RAS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

7pm TUESDAY – 30^th NOVEMBER 2010

THE WALDORF ASTORIA SHANGHAI on the BUND

The evening will begin with a summary of RAS activities and developments over the last year, followed by ratification of some minor changes to our Constitution culminating in the election of RAS Council for the coming year. As a prelude to our agreement with the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, to house The Society’s Library at The Writers Hall in the building, there will be an opportunity to view the Library space.

Tea/coffee, soft drinks and snacks will be on offer courtesy of the Waldorf Astoria. There will be a pay as you go bar service and members will be offered a ten percent discount on food in Pelham’s restaurant following the meeting.

RAS 2010 Review and Financial Report.

RAS Constitution revisions – proposed revisions below and attached.

THROUGHOUT:       The words ‘Fellows/hip’ shall be replaced with ‘Members/hip’

                                   The word ‘external’ shall be replaced with ‘overseas’.

ITEM 13 – delete:       ‘except that they shall not have the right to vote in Council.’

ITEM 16g – change:    ‘Activities Co-ordinator’ to ‘Programme Director’.

ITEM 16h - add:         An Honorary Research and Publications Director.

ITEM 26a - delete:      A report or minutes of the last ordinary meeting.

ITEM 38 - delete:       ‘Copies not exceeding twenty in number of any article published in the Journal shall be presented gratis to the author of the article.’
