There have been long queues and great hype surrounding Yayoi Kusama’s show, “A Dream I Dreamed” at MoCA, Shanghai. Why is this 84-year-old Japanese female artist so famous or infamous? What makes her artwork so appealing or appalling? Does the show truly merit its acclaim or claim? Julie Chun (MA, Art History) will lead a special guided talk and walk-through to examine the art historical context in which Kusama’s art merged. By the end of the museum visit, you will have gained a better insight into Japanese contemporary art and also the business of museum curatorial practices.
