Grasping the Sparrow’s Tail: A Taiji Movie
A documentary by Jud Willmont
For over 30 years Dennis Willmont has studied the ancient Chinese world view. This worldview is what ancient Chinese Medicine, Daoist Philosophy, and Taiji Quan are all based on. Inspired by an article Dennis wrote published in the Journal of Asian Martial Arts titled: “Sacrifice, Ritual and Alchemy: the spiritual traditions of Taiji Quan,” Grasping the Sparrows Tail documents Dennis’ journey as he travels through China for the first time. Accompanied by his son Jud, Dennis sets out to find the historical and philosophical origins of Taiji Quan. A journey through space and time, Grasping the Sparrows Tail explores the ancient Chinese world view that Dennis has come to understand while living in the United States and evidence of that world view in modern contemporary China today.
